Immerse yourself in a world of chance encounters at Coffee & SerendipiTea. Featuring artists Pamela Leung and Yumi Umiumare, and curated by Rachael Kiang, this exhibition transforms Bankstown Arts Centre into a hybrid coffee shop and teahouse setting, inviting visitors to interact and become part of the artwork.

Coffee & SerendipiTea opens on 27 July to coincide with Bankstown Bites, featuring a butoh performance by Yumi Umiumare and collaborative coffee artwork facilitated by Pamela Leung at 3pm.

‘Stories From Here’ by Outloud is an audio walking tour of Bankstown featuring recorded monologues written by local young people aged 16-24 about their experiences in the area and the places that matter to them. Start at Bankstown Arts Centre and explore the streets to discover a different side of Bankstown.

Utp will be hosting a screening of heartfelt short films by local senior creatives and artists from the 15 Cigarettes program. Hailing from Arabic-speaking backgrounds and united by a love for art, they collaborated to create films exploring family archives and experiences of migration. Beginning in 2022, 15 Cigarettes confronts cross-generational loneliness and nurtures intergenerational connection.

Join Bankstown Art Society and Sydney based artist PETROS for demonstrations on drawing still life foods in a variety of mediums. Paints and canvases will be available throughout the day by donation for anyone to create their own masterpiece. Art works by Bankstown Art Society students will also be on display and available for purchase.

What is a lapidary club? Find out at Bankstown Arts Centre during Bankstown Bites! Bankstown and District Lapidary Club is hosting their annual open day so come down and discover the craft of working with minerals and gemstones. A beautiful array of jewellery and other crafts will also be available for purchase at the lapidary stall right outside the studio.

Meet the directors, actors and stage managers of Bankstown Theatre Company and learn how a stage production comes together. Visit a real-life set with lighting set up, learn how stage scenery is cut and painted, try on stage costumes and photograph yourself in them for a chance to win tickets to Bankstown Theatre Company’s next production.

Project Market-space is going to Western Sydney! In line with Bankstown Bites happening on the 27th of July, Project Market-space has collaborated with Bankstown Arts Centre to bring to you a market in their courtyard that will feature artists who create food-focused or themed works. From prints and stickers that celebrate culinary heritage, zines about trips to the local Asian mart, ceramics adorned with illustrations of fresh fruit, onigiri shaped incense holders and so much more, the lineup will feature long-time stallholders of Project Market-space events, as well as new stallholders.
