About the Bankstown Koori Elders Group
The Bankstown Koori Elders has been together since 2004. The group is now made up of 8 members, since 2020 we have been meeting at Wellama Medical Centre, 122 Chapel Rd, Bankstown. We enjoy working with clay and with the guidance of our ceramics mentor Diamando Koutsellis, she helps us reconnected with our people, culture and land. At Wellama, we also work with community for mental health and wellbeing. Our group includes people from different tribes, some of our Aunties are Murri's from Queensland. Our group is a circle of very special and close friends and our unity and sense of family stems from reconnecting with our Aboriginal identity.
