Slow Down, Remember

Exhibition runs Saturday 29 March-Saturday 3 May

Slow Down, Remember uses portraiture and painting as acts of creative resistance. Amani Haydar captures the relationship between her mother and grandmother and their land. She reaffirms the certainty of their sense of belonging through their expressions and their stance, a certainty which frustrates colonisers, a certainty that cannot be challenged by outsiders. Amani also shared her creative practice with other women through workshops in collaboration with Bankstown Women’s Health Centre and Racial Justice Centre, providing participants with the confidence and freedom to develop their relationship between creativity and resilience.
