Explore your emotional and sensory connections to place and create layered, one-of-a-kind monoprints.
Saturday 19 July, 11.30am-4.30pm
What places live in your memory? A city corner, a bush track, a street you walk daily?
In this hands-on watercolour monoprinting workshop, you'll explore your emotional and sensory connections to place - whether it's an urban space, a natural environment, or somewhere imagined. You'll learn a painterly printmaking technique that combines drawing, colour, and texture to create layered, one-of-a-kind monoprints.
Using simple tools and low-toxic process, you'll paint onto a printing plate and transfer the image with a printing press.
By the end of the workshop, participants will leave with:
- 2-3 original monoprints on high quality paper
- A new creative skill in monoprinting
- A visual exploration of personal space
30-minute BYO lunch break included.
Bring a digital photo! (Optional but encouraged)
To help you get the most out of the workshop, we invite you to send a digital photo of a place that's meaningful to you. This could be your neighbourhood, a nature scene, a building, or even a view from your window. We'll print it out or set it up for tracing during the session, giving you a helpful visual base to work from.
Please send your photo (.jpg or .png preferred) by COB 17 July to steph.eg.peters@gmail.com with your name in the subject line.
If you don't have a photo, no worries! You'll still be able to create your own imagery on the day using memory, sketches or inspiration we provide.
Note: This workshop has a maximum capacity of 10 students and requires a minimum of 6 students to run.
